According to reports published recently, consumer debt fell $21.6 billion in July. On the surface it looks like consumers are paying off existing debt, saving more money and not spending as much. But on the other hand, spending is what our economy needs in order to pull us out of this recession. Personally, I too have found myself reaching for the debit card instead of the credit card for purchases lately. Hopefully we have learned some valuable lessons that will keep us from falling back into old habits. What are you doing differently now?
